In polar components, Coulomb interactions split the degeneracy involving transverse (TO) and longitudinal optical (LO) phonons, when the potent net dipole second on the TO phonon causes the fabric to also couple with resonant infrared mild. This coupling is chargeable for establishing the material-certain Reststrahlen band1 involving the TO and LO
